UMD Employee Focused Classes

Functional Fitness Training for UMD Employees

Join UMD’s Wellbeing Program and the RSOP Department for a 6-week employee-only fitness class instructed by a certified personal trainer and health coach. This is a great opportunity to connect with colleagues, improve your fitness and earn Wellbeing points at the same time! Functional fitness training is a type of exercise that focuses on improving the body’s ability to perform everyday movements and activities, such as lifting, pulling, pushing and squatting. The goal is to improve overall fitness and function, rather than just building muscle or increasing endurance. Functional fitness workouts typically involve a combination of exercise that mimics movements found in daily life, such as lunges, squats, push-ups and kettlebell swings. These exercises often involve multiple muscle groups and joints working together in a coordinated manner. Overall, functional fitness is a versatile and effective approach to exercise that can improve overall fitness, functional movement and quality of life. The only requirement for sign up is that you are a current UMD employee (faculty/staff); no RSOP membership is required.
