About our Climbing Program

Whether you are an experienced climber or brand new, the UMD climbing program has something for everyone. We have two climbing walls on campus featuring over 3500 sq ft of climbable surface. We have top rope and lead climbing available during our walls open hours, as well as bouldering, available any time the fitness facility is open.

In addition to our indoor climbing, we also have many outdoor climbing trips available for students and community members year round. Minnesota features some of the best rock climbing around, as well as some of the most accessible climbing found anywhere. From our trips up to Shovel Point climbing over Lake Superior, to ice climbing in Duluth’s very own ice climbing park, we offer trips and clinics catered to your level and taught by our professional and experienced staff.

No equipment? No problem. We have all necessary equipment you may need available to use during open hours or on trips, included with your session.
